The Stylish Magazine for Modern Families

yoto Unveils it’s biggest upgrade yet.

Yoto has unveiled its biggest hardware update to date, introducing a new generation of its children’s audio players with more storage, faster performance and a new card-free way for children to access their favourite content.

The Yoto Player 4th Gen and Yoto Mini 4th Gen are the latest versions of the company’s popular audio players, with both devices receiving a significant hardware and design overhaul.

One of the biggest changes is the introduction of a new Green Button, which allows children to access up to 20 favourite audio titles without having to find and insert a physical Yoto Card.

Parents can set up personalised playlists through the free Yoto App, giving children direct access to selected stories, music, podcasts and other audio. The feature can also be used with digital-only cards and free content, including soundscapes and toothbrush timers.

Yoto says the change follows feedback from families as their digital and physical libraries have grown, with the company aiming to make it easier for children to independently find the content they listen to most.

New features aimed at family routines

The Green Button can also be used to build personalised morning and bedtime routines.

Parents could, for example, create a morning playlist featuring Yoto Daily, a toothbrush timer and educational content, while an evening playlist could include lullabies, white noise, Yoto Sleep Radio or a favourite bedtime story.

The new Yoto Player 4th Gen also features a redesigned night light panel. Parents can choose from seven colours to create a bedtime atmosphere or use the light as an “OK-to-Wake” signal.

Yoto says future software updates will add dynamic lighting effects designed to respond to the audio being played.

More storage and faster hardware

Under the hood, both new players have received upgraded hardware.

The Yoto Player 4th Gen and Yoto Mini 4th Gen now feature 64GB of storage, enough for up to 1,000 hours of audio. They also receive a new processor, increased memory, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 6.1.

The Yoto Mini has received a particularly significant durability upgrade. The new Mini 4th Gen is IP67-rated, making it resistant to dust and capable of withstanding immersion in water, according to the company.

Yoto says the tougher design is intended to make the Mini better suited to family trips and everyday use outside the home.

Accessories also get a refresh

Yoto is launching updated accessories alongside the new players, including redesigned silicone Adventure Jackets in four new colours.

The Mini 4th Gen jacket also comes with a wrist lanyard, while the refreshed Yoto Travel Case can accommodate both generations of the Yoto Mini.

The case retains room for over-ear headphones and up to 30 Yoto Cards, giving families a way to carry their audio collection while travelling.

Yoto: 4th Gen is about evolution

Yoto CEO and co-founder Ben Drury said the company had focused on improving the experience rather than changing what makes the products distinctive.

“We wanted kids to be able to get to the audio they love more easily, for Yoto to work even better around the rhythms of family life, and for the hardware itself to be faster, more reliable and tougher.”

He added that the company did not want to change the “core” of Yoto, describing the new generation as an evolution of the experience as families’ listening habits develop.

Price and release date

The Yoto Player 4th Gen will cost £119.99, while the Yoto Mini 4th Gen will cost £89.99.
